Somplasky Co-Chairs National Committee

11/19/2015

Anita Somplasky,  Director of Transformation and Measure Development Services at WVMI & Quality Insights, has been appointed co-chair of a new Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) advisory committee tasked with recommending ways to make a tool for comparing certified Electronic Health Records (EHRs).
The nine-member Certified Technology Comparison Task Force, co-chaired by Cris Ross of the Mayo Clinic, will provide recommendations on the most feasible public-private approaches to creating and maintaining such a tool. Task force members will consider the HIT adoption and implementation needs of a wide range of providers and solicit feedback from both providers and vendors.

The committee’s recommendations may include policy, technical and other considerations that arise during the course of its work.  Findings are due to Congress in April under the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act.

“I’m honored to be working with this group of accomplished and committed professionals who have helped move HIT forward across the country,” Somplasky said.  “Most importantly, I think our task force findings and recommendations will fill a great need for providers and vendors to ensure their EHRs are capable of fostering high quality, cost effective care.”

Somplasky has been on the forefront of HIT adoption and meaningful use since 2010, when she was selected to oversee Quality Insights’ two Pennsylvania-based HIT Regional Extension Centers funded by ONC.  PA REACH East and West have provided assistance to approximately 6,000 providers in the Commonwealth.
