Infection Preventionist Leadership Bootcamp

FREE training and community-building opportunity for long-term care infection preventionists in WV

 

Quality Insights in collaboration with the West Virginia Health Care Association is hosting a FREE Infection Preventionist Leadership Bootcamp for long-term care workers in West Virginia.

The event will feature:

  • Education
  • Leadership development
  • Networking
  • Ongoing support for infection preventionists

Participants will attend a two-day bootcamp at the Stonewall Resort in Roanoke, West Virginia, from April 23-24, 2024.

The event will be followed by six monthly virtual sessions from May-October offering IPs further education and support.

Beyond the bootcamp, participants will have access to an interactive online community to stay up-to-date with the latest infection control guidance, receive new resources, and connect with peers and experienced infection preventionists.

Education

 

EXPERT PRESENTER: The Infection Prevention Leadership Bootcamp will be led by Jennifer Brown, RN, BSN, CIC. Jennifer Brown is Infection Preventionist and Quality Improvement Specialist at Quality Insights. 

 

COURSES: The course is divided into twelve units, each covering different topics related to the infection preventionist role.

Topics that will be covered at the in-person bootcamp include Infection Control Policies and Procedures, Regulatory Requirements, Transmission Based Precautions, Infection Surveillance, and Antibiotic Stewardship.

By the end of this course, participants will have the essential knowledge and skills to excel as an infection preventionist and ensure the safety of their residents and staff.

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS: This course is under review for 15.3 Continuing Education (CE) credits for Nursing by the West Virginia Board of Examiners for Registered Nurses through the West Virginia Health Care Association (Provider Number WV 50-31624, Tracking # 20-1178608). To receive credit, participants must:

  • Attend the entire course
  • Complete the evaluations

 

POST-BOOTCAMP VIRTUAL SESSIONS: Following the bootcamp, there will be six virtual sessions offering further education and support for participants. These will be held on the second Thursday of the month at 1 p.m. ET from May-October 2024. 

These virtual sessions are part of the program, so please do not enroll in the bootcamp if you do not intend to participate in the post-bootcamp virtual sessions.

COST

Below is a summary of which expenses will be free for attendees, and which expenses attendees will be personally responsible for. All expenses that are free are made possible through funding from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). 

 

EDUCATION: The in-person bootcamp, post-virtual sessions, and continuing education credits are FREE. 

 

MEALS: Lunch will be provided during the in-person bootcamp on April 23 and 24.

Attendees will be responsible for other meals. Learn more about dining options at the Stonewall Resort.

 

LODGING: Quality Insights will offer limited complimentary lodging at the Stonewall Resort on a first-come, first-served basis for the nights of Monday, April 22, and Tuesday, April 23.

Complimentary rooms are limited to one room per facility represented. Rooms with two queen beds are available for attendees who wish to share a room.

APPLY EARLY TO IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF RECEIVING A COMPLIMENTARY ROOM. THE DEADLINE TO APPLY FOR A COMPLIMENTARY ROOM IS WEDNESDAY, MARCH 20.

People who wish to attend the bootcamp but do not want or do not receive a complimentary room are responsible for reserving and paying for their stay at the resort or elsewhere.

Attendees who wish to arrive early or extend their stay are responsible for booking and paying for those additional days.
