Expertise

Emergency Preparedness and Response In 2017, Hurricanes Irma and Maria devastated the dialysis infrastructure in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico—both under the purview of the ESRD Network 3 contract. Chris led critical emergency efforts—first helping evacuate and coordinate care for 110 dialysis patients from St. Thomas to Puerto Rico, then swiftly mobilizing resources in Puerto Rico after Maria to maintain dialysis treatment for over 5,000 patients and prevent a mass evacuation.
ESRD Data Chris has over 25 years of experience working extensively with ESRD data and plays an integral role in various committees alongside federal partners and contractors, collaborating to improve and deepen the understanding of this critical data.
Renal Transplant Processes In 2018, recognizing significant gaps in knowledge and communication between dialysis and transplant providers, Chris launched a pioneering initiative to leverage his extensive expertise with ESRD data. He developed comprehensive reports designed to assist both types of providers in patient evaluation, waitlisting, and transplantation. These reports were so impactful that, in 2023, CMS officially adopted them, integrating them into EQRS for nationwide use by all providers.
