Quality Insights Awarded Seven End-Stage Renal Disease Network Contracts, Significantly Expanding National Reach

CHARLESTON, WV | MAY 12, 2026

The nonprofit health improvement organization now serves kidney patients and dialysis facilities across 17 states, Washington, D.C., and two U.S. territories.

More than 800,000 Americans are living with kidney failure — a condition that requires dialysis or a kidney transplant to survive. Quality Insights has been selected by the federal government to help make sure they get the best care possible.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has awarded Quality Insights contracts for End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) Networks 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, and 12, expanding the organization’s reach to patients, caregivers, and dialysis facilities across 17 states, Washington, D.C., and two U.S. territories.

To help ensure the quality of care for kidney patients nationwide, CMS divides the country into 18 regional networks. Quality Insights now serves seven of those 18. Network staff in each region advocate for patients, support dialysis facilities in quality improvement efforts, and serve as a trusted resource for the kidney care community.

“For more than 50 years, our mission has been to improve health—for individuals, for communities, for the nation,” said Sven Berg, CEO. “This expansion lets us deliver on that mission at a greater scale, and we don't take that responsibility lightly. The relationships and insights we will build with kidney disease patients across our new service area will also deepen our understanding of their needs in ways that let us advocate for them, not just locally, but as a national voice."

Quality Insights has a long history with ESRD Networks, having served for many years as the contractor for Networks 3, 4, and 5, covering nine states and territories — New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The new contracts add Networks 2, 10, 11, and 12, bringing in patients across New York, Illinois, and states spanning the Midwest and Great Plains.

Quality Insights brings experienced clinical and operational staff to this expanded portfolio, along with established relationships with dialysis providers, patient advocates, and state health agencies.

“Our teams are ready, and the work is underway,” said Brandy Vinson, Network Director for Quality Insights’ ESRD operations. “We have experienced staff, strong systems, and genuine relationships with patients and facilities. We know this work, and we’re committed to making a difference from day one.”

Patients, families, and dialysis facilities in the newly covered networks can visit www.qualityinsights.org/esrd to find contact information for their network and learn more about available services. Network staff members are available to assist with questions, concerns, and quality improvement support.
