New designation enables organization to offer team-based continuing education (CE) and partner with hospitals and health systems on their CE programs.
Quality Insights has achieved Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education, joining fewer than 200 organizations nationwide authorized to provide nationally recognized CE credits to physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare disciplines through unified team-based learning programs.
The distinction also enables Quality Insights to partner with hospitals, health systems, and healthcare organizations that lack their own accreditation, allowing those partners to offer accredited CE programs to their teams without pursuing the lengthy accreditation process themselves.
Joint Accreditation is the first and only accreditation program of its kind in the world. Established in 2009 by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the program has expanded to include other healthcare education accrediting organizations. Joint Accreditation ensures that continuing education for healthcare teams serves the needs of patients and the public, and is designed to be independent, free from commercial bias, based on valid content, relevant, and effective in improving the quality and safety of care delivered by the team.
"This accreditation enables us to do what we do best—turn insights into measurable impact for healthcare teams and the patients they serve," said Sven Berg, CEO. "When clinicians from different disciplines learn together, the results speak for themselves: better coordination, fewer errors, and improved outcomes. For healthcare organizations that want to provide quality education to their teams but lack the infrastructure for accreditation, we can now serve as a trusted partner—helping them deliver team-based learning that translates directly into better care. That's what excites us most: education that makes a real difference."
According to Joint Accreditation, interprofessional continuing education—where healthcare team members from different disciplines learn together—leads to measurably better outcomes. Organizations offering this team-based approach report 25% higher staff retention rates and 12% fewer medical incidents compared to traditional single-profession education models.
The accreditation expands and enhances Quality Insights' existing work in health improvement, complementing programs including its 5 Steps to 5 Stars nursing home quality improvement initiative, the Thinkspace rural health innovation studio, and comprehensive health quality improvement services.
