Quality Insights Launches R.I.S.E. Program

CHARLESTON, WV | NOVEMBER 18, 2025

Quality Insights and Partners Launch New “R.I.S.E.” program to Improve Health of Seniors.

On Tuesday, November 18, Quality Insights, the West Virginia School Medicine and the Renick Community Center launched a new Risk, Improve Confidence, Strengthen, and Educate (R.I.S.E.) initiative. The free program for women 60+ includes fun strength and balance activities, brain health exercises, and practical tips to stay steady and confident led by trained professionals. The event took place at the Renick Community Center, which serves as a hub for health, wellness, and community engagement, particularly for senior adults. It features a walking trail, a grant-funded outdoor exercise space, and an industrial kitchen used for healthy cooking education in rural Greenbrier County, West Virginia.

The R.I.S.E. program, supported by a grant awarded by the National Council on Aging (NCOA) as part of the U.S Administration for Community Living (ACL) Innovation Lab, will include delivery of activities for falls prevention and test whether they offer a flexible, adaptable, and relevant option to address their communities’ falls prevention needs. Quality Insights will report on how they implement their activities and specific participant outcomes, in addition to participating in technical assistance opportunities and involving community members in overall planning and decision-making through a Community Advisory Board.

The well-attended launch was hosted by Renick Community Center President Cheryl Workman and included refreshments, dozens of community members and partners, and included presentations delivered by:

  • Matt Morris, CSCS, NSCA, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist
  • Christopher Wood, D.O., FACP, FACOI, Internal and Geriatric Medicine physician with the Robert C. Byrd Clinic on the campus of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Evonne Richards, MEd, MPH, Research Director, Center for Rural and Community Health, West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Vince Deeds, West Virginia District 10 Senator
  • Shanen Wright, Quality Insights Program Director
